You should always make sure your antivirus software is up to date. If you've been doing your weekly scans and software updates you are probably at little to no risk for this April 1st conficker worm. You can configure your virus protection software to perform an automatic scheduled scan.
The news this morning indicates that little to no damage reported on computers so far.
One quick test is to try to go to www.microsoft.com . If you are unable to access the microsoft site, you probably have the worm on your computer since one of the April 1st actions is to block the user from going to sites with fix instructions (such as microsoft).
